C-it DU-it (pronounced “see-it; do-it”) is an innovative, Kenyan-led initiative dedicated to transforming how community and facility health data are linked and used to monitor and improve the uptake of antenatal care (ANC) services. LVCT Health leads the project in collaboration with county governments and Kenyan research institutions, with technical support from LSTM.

What is C-it DU-it?

As Kenya’s healthcare system transitions rapidly from paper-based to electronic systems, multiple platforms are emerging, but they often don’t connect. This project aims to bridge that gap by connecting facility and community health data, fostering better collaboration between community health promoters and healthcare facilities. The goal is to improve health outcomes for women and their families.

Focusing on ANC services as a model is particularly important, as Kenya is working towards the WHO’s ambitious target of eight ANC contacts during pregnancy. This research will demonstrate how to link data and use it, providing missing evidence on the impact, costs and scale-up of data linkage and use.
